For a good few years we have been working with eXcommerce with their WebShop Offerings. eXcommerce is very good in the integration of an online ecommerce store using Catalook and DotNetnuke integrated with a great ERP (accounting, CRM, logistics) using Mamut. They have many clients and the process works great.

Today nopCommerce v2.00 was released for download and upgrade. nopCommerce 2.00 was rewritten from scratch. Our development efforts were focused on moving nopCommerce to ASP.NET MVC 3.0, architecture improvements, further enhancements and fixing bugs. It was also decided not to ship nopCommerce with all that payment modules that were included in the previous versions (about 35 modules). Only some of them are available out of the box. All other payment modules will be available as plugins.

As much as I am so unhappy with Apple beign so greedy recent weeks with the Apple Vs Publishers topic, yet I cannot stop admiring their consistency in looking out of the box. Today with the Announcement of Mac OSX lion, where for the first time instead a desktop OSX borrows ideas and functionalities from the new iPad and iOS like The new gestures, influenced by the iPhone and iPad, include rubber-band scrolling, which sees pages snap back like a rubber band, and double tap or pinch to zoom in and out.

Google released Wednesday a platform preview for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and an updated set of SDK tools. Multiple tablet devices like the Motorola Xoom are on the way along with lots of others by the end of the year. Today I had a customer that was complaining about lack of support for HTML5 in DNN. The question was completely alien to me as I could not understand the relevance of HTML5 with a Web Content Management System like DNN. I have always thought we can deliver some aspects of it so long the customer browser can manage to view it. So I thought I do some research and identify the part of the technologies around HTML5 that continue to develop, and finding a better way to distinguish the more experimental parts of HTML5 from the parts ready for use in mainstream Content Managed Sites.

I am afraid this is a cheat since I have not developed an application to allow you to view SecondLife directly on iPad or iPhone. I am talking about my favourite remote access programme on my iPad the “SplashTop” and how I use it to remote control my Home/Office Windows Home Server or any other pc/laptop at your home and Second Life as if the Tablet is running the app in iOS4.2.

A few months ago we looked for an Ecommerce Web Application with small footprint. For years we have been using DotNetNuke together with Catalook to achieve this for our customers, and very successfully too. However, some of our customer’s don’t need the Advanced CMS aspects’ of DNN that is very capable and we love it.
