One year has passed and another CES. January 4th marks the start of the Consumer Electronics Show, where the technology world will gather in Las Vegas this week for the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one of the largest such trade shows in the world. This year like always, techies, gadget lovers, people in the industry, and press alike will be making their journey to Las Vegas to revel in the future of gadgetry and technology

Last year’s electronics show was rather subdued due to the crippling recession. However, many in the industry are expecting this year’s conference to signal the start of the economic recovery (so do all of us). Exhibitors from all over the world are expecting to show new wonders in major categories like phones, computers, Tablets, 3D TVs, Game etc. The theme for this year however, is most likely to be focused on the fast growing tablets and app-enabled devices, Mobile devices, and 3D technology TVs.  So what can we expect from the CES 2011?

More Tablets/Phones
Tablets were big last year, but, most of the prototypes Tablets and Mobile devices did not appear. Only a handful like iPad and Samsung Galaxy came through. However, this year with better OS support from Google and Microsoft, the tablet world is doing its best to dent the Apple monopoly in this market. The new tablet to watch is Motorola’s Android tablet.

Motorola tablet will be running the brand new Android 3.0 OS, called “Honeycomb”. There is also going to be a 10.1-inch tablet from Toshiba and an 8-inch device from Vizio. In other mobile device news, Microsoft Ballmer’s keynote speech would mean the introduction of new Windows Phone 7 devices as well as a windows powered tablets. There is likely to be a preview of Windows 8.

On the US specific subjects, it is rumoured that Verizon iPhone is likely with Seindenberg’s keynote, but Apple could announce the same news in a parallel press conference.

HDTVs 3D Tvs and Games
In CES 2010 the talk of the town was 3D technology in high definition television. The manufactures desperately attempted to showcase their latest 3D in home entertainment, whilst Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will all be presenting their new Game gadgets at this year’s show like PlayStation Move and the Xbox Kinect. Nintendo, which normally is absent at CES, will be doing private demos of the Nintendo 3DS.

This year’s show is also expected to concentrate on new 3D technology as well as some new previews of glasses-less viewing which is the main stumbling block in the larger consumer acceptance of the current range of 3D offerings.

It’s also likely TV manufacturers will introduce new lines of web-application-enabled TVs for 2011. Most companies already have a few of these TVs in the market, but we may see a heavy push for this technology in multiple lines this year, following the not so successful introduction of Internet set top devices like Google TV. All this will, of course, be packaged in yet a thinner and more compact form.

Car Technology
Connected Cars, Connected TVs, Connected Everything Gadgets, in CES is breaking the habit of just featuring in-the-home gadgets as this year, the car tech pavilion is likely to be big.

Currently the in-car technology is dominated by Microsoft with their Sync technology and its seamlessly integration for gadget-friendly and Internet-connected tools inside the car, however, This year, both Ford and Toyota have announced their intention to introduce new car technology tools.

Audi Chairman Stadler’s will be making the keynote that will set the stage for innovative wonders in future cars. We expect the completely 3G enabled cars to be showcased and set the trends in Internet and Application Integration in the car and its seamless connectivity with other mobile devices.
